Blog Worthy

One of the things that has been hanging over our heads is the organizing and getting our Swiss licenses. If we do this process within our first year here we don't have to take a driving test, so there is great incentive to complete this before 12 months . However we have found it easily pushed to the back burner Wednesday on my regular grocery shopping trip to Germany I was stopped at the border for the first time and they wanted to see my license and I reminded that I needed have this organized before 12 months, so I came home and to save further harassment and embarrassment due to lack of language skills, I set about motivating the process into action. We both had to have an eye test , get passport photo's and fill out forms(which are in German). So Thursday after a wonderful morning on the phone and "Skype" to family and friends we headed into Baden for our eye tests. Both passed not as blind as I thought. The most Blog Worthy thing to report and for those who have been to stay and Vetti in particular we were out of the house and on the road BEFORE 8AM!!!! The "Strassenverkehsamt' Swiss form of RTA opened at 0730. The process here was very easy, handed in our Oz license ,they checked the forms (which I must say we had filled out by ourselves, with the help of the German/English dictionary which has become my best friend) and they said we would receive them in the mail within a week. Yeah!!!!! Task completed and if I had realized how simply it would be I would have done it early.
Yesterday I also began my German lessons with my girlfriend . I am so excited because it will make life a lot easier for me having the ability to communicate. Graham also took the opportunity to get out on his motorbike yesterday. He went into Germany through the Black Forest. It was so cold though he had to stop at his bike shop in Germany and get some winter gloves . With these riding was easier and prevented frost bite. The weather has really cooled off now and this week it has struggled to get above 10 degrees. Roll on the snow then I will feel there is a reason for the cold.
Yesterday I took the boys out for a walk to see the Christmas lights. It is easy to entertain them at this age as the lighting shop over the road has a light display for Christmas. It is hard to believe that this wonderful season is just around the corner. There is a big count down happening in our house as it is only 38 more sleeps till Grandy and Grandad comes and so that means only 41 sleeps till Santa comes Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
